First, you need a clear picture of where you want to take your readers past the hook. Second, you must determine how to grab their attention through curiosity or intrigue in a way that connects to where you want to take them? Where you are taking your reader is the promised land, and you should tease the promised land with intrigue in your hook. In other words, you should tease a counterintuitive way to get to the promised land.
