How long does it really take to write a book? Of course, the answer depends, let’s look at the numbers. A normal nonfiction book is about 50,000 words. Nonfiction books, especially those self-published, tend to become shorter and shorter, but let’s take 50,000 words as an example. If you have a good writing process in place, you can write about 900 words an hour. If you write an hour a day, you’ll have your 50,000-word book completed in about 2 months. Now you can play around with these numbers by changing how much time you want to write every day or by changing the length of your book.
